Change of Name of Unit Holder

In the event that a Unitholder changes his name, the Unit holder would have to submit the following documents:


(i) Letter duly signed by the unit holder with old and new signature or new signature attested by the existing banker, if the investor changed his/her signature after name change (original)

(ii) A no objection letter from all holders (irrespective of mode of holding)

(iii) A certified* copy of:

  • The gazetted notification / newspaper advertisement regarding change of name, divorce deed (in case of individual),
  • A fresh certificate of incorporation (in case of company).
  • The entry in the Register of Firms relating to change of name (in case of a registered  partnership firm),
  • Declaration signed by all the partners confirming and declaring the change of name (in case of an unregistered partnership firm).  Download format here. (DOC,<200k)
  • Certified copy of passport/documentation under the relevant jurisdiction evidencing the change in name (in case of a NRI/OCB).
*All certified copies are to be:
  • attested by a gazetted officer; or a practising Chartered Accountant or Advocate;
  • attested by the manager of a bank where the Unitholder maintains an account, specifying the manager's bank identification number; or
  • notarised by a Notary Public. (Note: A power of attorney is always to be notarised by a notary public.)

# Any of the identity proofs in the New name like PAN; PIO card; Passport; Voter’s Id or Driving license (Must be self certified or verified with original documents by FT branches or shall be certified copy.)

Note: In case the Power of Attorney is supplied by the Unitholder, it may be accepted in case it is substantially in accordance with the format provided.

Please note that all documents are to be executed on plain paper. Wherever stated so specifically, documents are to be executed on non-judicial stamp paper of the stated denomination. After completion, the required document should be submitted to any of our Investor Service Centres for resolution.
