Franklin Templeton Business Continuity Efforts in Response to Coronavirus

Updated April 3, 2020

We continue to closely monitor the spread of the virus and remain focused on protecting our employees and our ability to maintain high-quality service and stability for our clients.

Our global business operations continue to be fully functional. We have enacted our comprehensive firm-wide business continuity plan that provides for the recovery of critical business unit operations, hardware, software and networks, including the provision of alternative sites from which to work and the ability to work at home securely.

Our business continuity and emergency response teams meet regularly to monitor business functions and to ensure our ability to implement rapid, nimble and stable solutions when needed. In addition to continuously monitoring the situation, we are providing regular updates to our employees and clients as needed.

Working remotely embraced across global offices.

As part of our plan, we have a robust and regularly tested work-from-home capability that enables the majority of our employees around the world to work remotely. With more locations around the globe moving to “shelter in place” orders, we have fully activated our global pandemic plan to protect our employees and we have moved to over 95% of our staff to working remotely.

Collaboration continues to be a key part of our day-to-day operations. We are using various types of collaboration software so that our employees can work together in real time and use video conferencing and messaging to maintain personal connections.

We have enacted a global travel policy, which has temporarily suspended all non-critical business travel, and we are also discouraging personal travel. Additionally, we have asked employees who have travelled outside of their country or who have household members who have done so, to work from home for 14 days. We continue to update our travel policy as we receive new information.

Lastly, we have established an online resource center for our employees. This includes updates on the spread of the virus, best practices for protecting yourself and working remotely as well as links to our investment professionals’ perspectives.

Keeping our clients informed
This is a very challenging time and its implications are far reaching. Rest assured, our investment teams are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide their timely views on our website, social channels and via email as the situation evolves. We are also increasing calls with our investment professionals to enable clients to ask questions and receive timely responses. These views will help add important context to the impacts on our clients’ portfolios.

We appreciate the trust and confidence you place in us and are doing everything in our power to protect our employees and prevent any disruption to our business operations or client service. Please contact your Franklin Templeton representative if you have any questions. We’re prepared and well-positioned to assist you.
