Equity funds can also be classified on the basis of the size of the companies they invest in, viz., large-cap, mid & small-cap, multi-cap or flexi-cap funds where size is defined basis the market capitalization of these companies. Multi-cap or flexi-cap funds contain a mix of all sizes. Besides these, there are also balanced funds that invest a portion of their corpus in fixed income assets along with equities to bring about a balance to your portfolio.
