All of us are part of several social media groups, be it of our schools, colleges, employers, relatives, friends, neighbours, etc.
But if we closely observe our groups from schools & colleges, we will notice that all in the group are of the same age, started education at the same time, were taught the same subjects by the same teachers, gave the same exams but still some are more successful than the rest. What did the successful ones do differently that the others didn't?
Markets too provide equal opportunities to those who invest but only a few are successful in creating wealth. The difference could be due to various reasons like having a financial advisor, investing from a young age to benefit from the power of compounding & more importantly withstanding market volatility during tough times & persistently investing across market cycles. There are several events in market history (like 2008 & 2020) where many of us exited & a few stayed on. That’s what made the difference to their portfolio.
So don’t be different for the sake of being different. Be different to make a difference.
